Tutorials

Missions take you through a whole workflow, from build to over-the-air update. Tutorials go deeper on one part of it: how an extension is put together, and how application code is compiled for your device.

Each tutorial runs on QEMU, so you don't need hardware. If you haven't built an image yet, start with Get Started.

Tutorials

  • Device Heartbeat: build a shell-based systemd service as an extension. This is the hello world of Avocado extension development.
  • React cross-compile: compile a React and Node.js app inside the Avocado SDK container and package it as an extension.
  • Rust cross-compile: cross-compile a Rust binary for your target and run it as a service.
  • Hardware in the loop: mount extensions over NFS into a running device, so you can iterate without rebuilding or reflashing.
  • Remote Tunnel: reach SSH or a web UI on a device through Avocado Connect. The Remote App mission puts it to work.
